About this toolkit
This free DNS toolkit is for administrators, developers and site owners who need a quick, read-only view of public DNS. Run bulk DIG queries, a Smart DNS check, or a Global DNS propagation check, then copy or download the output. Nothing on this page changes records at your registrar or nameservers.
What you can check
- A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, NS, TXT, SRV, CAA and SOA
- SPF, DMARC and common DKIM selectors
- Cloudflare, Google, Quad9 or OpenDNS responses
- Propagation from the DNS toolkit server and public resolvers in several locations
- Optional WHOIS and common hostnames such as www, mail and api
Responsible use
Use the toolkit for domains you own or are authorized to assess. Lookups are read-only and do not change records at your registrar or DNS host. Do not send automated traffic that interferes with the service.
How to use Multi DIG, Smart DNS and Global DNS
Multi DIG is for several hostnames at once. Put one name per line. If you omit the record type, the dropdown value is used. Choose Auto or a specific public resolver, add a type override such as example.com TXT, then copy or download the output.
Smart DNS is for one domain. Auto asks the domain's authoritative nameservers first. Choose Cloudflare, Google, Quad9, or OpenDNS to query that resolver directly. Tick subdomains only when needed; WHOIS is optional because it can take longer.
Global DNS checks one hostname and type from the DNS toolkit server and from public resolvers in several locations. Each location queries Cloudflare, Google, Quad9, or OpenDNS. You can also compare those answers with the domain's own nameservers.
Typical uses include checking whether a new site has an A record, confirming MX before mail cutover, and verifying that SPF or DMARC TXT records published as planned. Results depend on public DNS and may differ from a private resolver until TTL expires.
DNS record types
Matches the record types in the tool dropdowns — what each abbreviation usually means.
- A
- IPv4 address record — points the name to one or more IPv4 addresses.
- AAAA
- IPv6 address record — IPv6 equivalents of
A.
- CNAME
- Canonical name — alias of another hostname. It generally cannot sit beside other records on the same name.
- MX
- Mail exchange — which hosts receive mail for the domain (priority + target).
- NS
- Name server — which DNS servers are authoritative for the zone.
- TXT
- Text — SPF, DKIM proofs, verification tokens, arbitrary strings.
- SRV
- Service — hostname and port for a service, with priority and weight.
- CAA
- Certificate Authority Authorization — which CAs may issue TLS certs for the name/zone.
- SOA
- Start of Authority — zone serial, timing (refresh/retry/expiry), primary NS, admin contact.
Email authentication types
SPF, DKIM, and DMARC are published as TXT records. They are not separate DNS types.
- SPF
- Lists the servers allowed to send mail for the domain. Receivers use it to spot unauthorized senders.
- DKIM
- Publishes a public key that verifies a signature on outgoing mail. It lives under a selector, such as
selector1._domainkey.example.com.
- DMARC
- Tells receivers what to do when SPF or DKIM alignment fails, and where to send reports. It is published at
_dmarc.example.com.
Frequently asked questions
Does this tool change DNS records?
No. It only performs read-only lookups and displays what public resolvers return.
Are results guaranteed to be complete?
No. DNS and WHOIS data change, caches differ, and some providers omit answers. Confirm production changes with your DNS host or registrar.
Why might two lookups differ?
Propagation, TTL caching, which resolver answered, or a record that was just updated can all produce different output.
What does Global DNS measure?
It asks public resolvers from several locations. That is a cache view, not a list of every ISP. Authoritative nameservers remain the source of truth for whether the zone itself was updated.
Is the toolkit free?
Yes. All lookups on this site are free to use. There is no account and no charge for Multi DIG, Smart DNS, or Global DNS.
Can I use this on a phone?
Yes. On smaller screens the query box and results stack so the tools stay usable.
Privacy notice
This site provides read-only DNS lookups. To return a result and keep the service reliable, the server processes the hostname or domain you submit, the record type, the time of the request, your IP address, basic browser information, and operational logs.
Do not enter passwords, personal data, or other secrets in the query fields. Query text is treated as a DNS name, not as a message to us.
Lookups may be sent to public DNS resolvers. Optional WHOIS checks may be sent to registry or WHOIS services. Global DNS checks may also be sent to regional lookup probes so answers can be compared by location. Those providers receive only the query needed to answer the request.
A preference may be stored in your browser so this notice is not shown on every visit. Logs are kept only as long as needed for security, abuse prevention, and operations, then deleted or rotated.

Terms of use
The toolkit is provided free of charge, as is and as available. Results are informational. They are not a guarantee of completeness and are not a substitute for your own DNS, mail, or security review. Confirm production changes with your DNS host or registrar.
You may use the service for lawful, read-only lookups. You are responsible for having the right to query the names you submit. Do not use the service to interfere with availability, bypass rate limits, submit unlawful material, or run unauthorized bulk automation.
We may limit, suspend, or refuse access when needed to protect the service, other users, or upstream resolvers. We do not promise uninterrupted availability or that every resolver or region will answer.
